Environmental Education, Renewable Energy Projects, Ecology Camps A board of Trustees continues to meet regarding the forming of a registered charity arm of ICAN.

An excruciating amount of time is spent on grant applications (thanks to Karen Benson and Karen Holmes) and approximately 1,000 hours a year is spent on paperwork relating to ICAN. Any local help with this would be much appreciated.

The only major help received has been given by private individuals and companies, not nature funding or Government bodies. Despite ICAN bending over backwards to fulfil every criteria of Agenda21 we are still not being considered for funding.

AGENDA 21

Agenda21 is a document for the 21st century produced at the Rio Earth Summit attended by world Governments who said that the Natural environment should be conserved (among other things). Unfortunately, this misled many people who thought that at last something would happen. Many of us now believe it has just led to an increase in paper-shuffling. We recommend that you write to your MP and get him to ask questions in Parliament about this subject. ICAN is not the only project to be ignored by the powers that be - contact us for information about some of the other schemes we are aware of which have struggled without any funding, often being forced to cease activities.

ICAN has been trying to save an immense pond from being lost by the erosion of its 150-year-old supporting dam. We were not able to get funding for this project.
