The aim of ICAN is to make a practical and realistic contribution to nature conservation and to buy land on which to carry out relevant activities

The International Conservation Awareness Network (ICAN) held conservation camps where you could take part in ecology and renewable energy projects. Educational, relaxing & fun. Children were welcome. There was music and a Martial Arts with Yoga, Judo, Aikido, Tai Chi and Capoeira among others. Many British and world champions attended. We only had training sessions, no fighting, because it was a family camp. Fun for all.

ICAN camps involved  helping with conservation activities such as small-scale renewable energy projects, pond making, tree planting, etc. Furniture was made from recycled wood, and ovens made from clay. Many people brought musical instruments to play around the campfire on the site near beautiful sea views and dramatic East Devon cliffs and countryside. The camp was near a large International Folk Music Festival which after fifty years reverted to a smaller local festival.  When this happened we suspended the camps which we hope to start again in due course.

However we have left details of some previous camps and events to give you an idea of our history.

The long-term project of ICAN is to set up a permanent nature, environment and alternative technology centre in Devon.

If you are interested in helping our long-term project of a permanent nature centre our address can be found on the Contact Us page.
